Candice Davis Scholarship

Over the last ten years, Last Minute Low Budget has given over $3000 in scholarships to graduates of Big Bend High School. In 2011 the scholarship was named for Candice Davis, a wonderful and talented actor who was a mainstay of LMLB productions for a number of years before succumbing to cancer.

Candice made an indelible impression as the saucy Mrs. Colby in Chocolate and the unflappable Wilma in Pillow in the summer shorts production Take 10 in 2008. She went on to play roles as varied and challenging as the hunchbacked dwarf Cousin Lymon in The Ballad of the Sad Cafe, the befuddled but heroic Gertie in Fuddy Meers, a theater-loving cockroach in Joe and Stew's Theatre of Brotherly Love and Financial Success and a philosophical monkey in Words, Words, Words, and the suicidal dipsomaniac Lois in Wonder of the World, among others. Just as importantly, she was always willing to help with set construction, stage management, prompting and working the door whether or not she was in the cast. Candice was a true trouper.
